Clayton State offers courses for children this summer

Registration for Clayton College & State Universitys annual Youth University is scheduled for Saturday, June 3 from 9 a.m. until noon in the Harry S. Downs Center for Continuing Education on the CCSU main campus in Morrow.

Children between the ages of seven and 13 are invited to sign up for more than 25 courses with the theme of "no grades, no textbooks and no term papers... just learning for the fun of it." This year's courses include; computers, tennis, art, puppetry, cartooning, outdoor pursuits, social studies, study skills, algebra, numbers to live by, poetry, reading, literacy, drama, dance, manners, pond life, science, journalism, Spanish, space, US government, wilderness medicine and fitness & nutrition.

Youth University 2000 has two sessions, Session I runs from July 10 to July 21, and Session II from July 24 to Aug. 4. Both sessions will run from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays, with the actual program beginning at 8:45 a.m. and concluding at 4:30 p.m.

Fees are $259 per session for each student with an optional meal plan of $40 per session.

All classes will be held on the Clayton State campus with the Athletics and Fitness Center serving as headquarters as well as the drop off and pick up point.

Clayton College & State University, a member institution of the University System of Georgia, is located in Morrow in south metro Atlanta.
