The Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City and VFW Post 4494 plan to join the city again this year for the second annual golf cart parade and Memorial Day ceremony Monday morning. Those who wish to participate in the parade are invited to meet at The Gathering Place at 7 a.m. for coffee and doughnuts hosted by the Kiwanis Club. The golf cart parade will begin at 7:30, proceed around Lake Peachtree and join with others at the VFW memorial at City Hall Plaza for the 8 a.m. ceremony. Those taking part in the parade are asked to use only American flags for decoration on the carts as a sign of respect, Kiwanis coordinator Annie McMenamin said. It is a special day to remember those men and women who gave their lives in service to our great country, McMenamin said. We are privileged and honored to have retired Marine Corps Gen. Raymond Davis, a Medal of Honor recipient, as our grand marshal. Davis is scheduled to be the guest speaker for the Memorial Day ceremony.
