The exams have been taken, the shirts pressed and the parties planned.

This weekend, hundreds of Coweta's students take the first step towards adulthood with graduation ceremonies at all three high schools. All schools plan to conduct services in their respective stadiums.

In case of rain, ceremonies will move inside to the schools' gymnasiums, with admission to ticket-holders only. Each graduate receives an allotment of tickets to distribute to immediate family.

No tickets are available from the schools.

Newnan High School leads off the ceremonies today at 7:30 p.m. in the stadium.

Due to current construction reducing parking space on the campus, the school is providing shuttle service from the Newnan City Hall parking lot every 30 minutes beginning at 5:30 and ending at 7 p.m. Shuttles will also make the return trip after the ceremony.

On the eastern side of the county, East Coweta High School's graduation ceremony will be tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Valedictorian Venetia Thrower plans to attend Georgia Tech and major in engineering or math, while salutatorian Justin Polizzi is bound for Tech and will major in pre-med.

The biggest excitement around the county is at Northgate, which plans its first graduation tomorrow.

The ceremony starts at 1 p.m. Golf cart shuttle service will be provided from the ticket gate to the home stands.

Northgate's valedictorian Jennifer Skrmetti is bound for the University of Georgia and plans to major in history. Malissa Minix is this year's salutatorian and plans to attend Shorter College and major in secondary ed-math.
