Two Fayette County residents have received commissions as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army in military commissioning ceremonies at North Georgia College and State University.

Matthew Benjamin Chitty of Fayetteville, son of Daniel E. and Kathleen R. Chitty, has been commissioned along with Joseph Michael Dumas of Tyrone, son of Joseph H. and Vicki Dumas.

Chitty was graduated with a bachelor of science degree in political science and will enter the armor branch of the Army.

Dumas also was graduated with a bachelor's degree, in criminal justice. He will enter the infantry.
