American Legion sets Memorial Day ceremony

Members of the American Legion, Fayette County Post 105 and the Ladies Auxiliary will observe Memorial Day with a ceremony Monday, May 29 at 10 a.m. at the Camp Memorial Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Americans pay tribute on Memorial Day to those who fell in battle defending the United States.

Guest speaker will be Maj. Gen. Craig Bambrough, deputy commanding general of the United States Army Reserve Command at Fort McPherson. A wreath laying ceremony will be followed by a reading of the names of veterans buried in Camp Memorial Cemetery.

“We want everyone in Fayette County to know that the American Legion is still serving America and will continue to serve this country, our state and our community in the years ahead,” said Dale Barnett, commander of post 105.

A veterans' appreciation picnic will follow the ceremony at McCurry Park. For information phone John DeFresne, 770-486-9588.
