The
weather was kind to the 35th annual Courthouse
Art Show in Fayetteville this past weekend.
The
75 artisans who had booths holding handmade
jewelry, watercolors, acrylic paintings and
pottery were pleased with the number of patrons
who came. Vendor Brenda Tustian, watercolors,
said she always looked forward to taking part in
the event because of her affinity for the oldest
courthouse building in Georgia. I have been
coming here for 10 years, she said,
and this site has really become special to
me.
The
Fayette County Arts Association uses exhibit fees
to award a scholarship to a student of each of
the county's high schools. This year checks for
$750 were given to Masha Rastatouroua, Fayette
County High School; Brina M. Jolin, Starr's Mill;
Emily May Maple, McIntosh, and Janelle Dingle,
Sandy Creek.
Taking
awards in this year's judging were: first place,
Lillian Brooks, watercolor, from Hahira; second
place, Richard DeWalt, wood, from Fayetteville;
third place, Suzanne Bridgeman, photo, from
Marietta.
