'March for Jesus' set for June 10 in Fayetteville

The third annual “March for Jesus” is coming up on Saturday, June 10, in Fayetteville.

Last year's gathering saw between 1,500 and 2,000 Christians of all ages marching from Fayette County High School down Ga. Highway 85 to the Fayette County government complex on Stonewall Avenue. This year's event will draw on that enthusiasm to make a public statement of faith, said Dr. John Hatcher, senior pastor at River's Edge Community Church and march coordinator.

Hatcher emphasized the march is a fun way to get Christians of all denominational and racial backgrounds “under one flag, simply proclaiming Jesus as Lord to the Fayette community.”

“We want to invite you and your church to participate in this multicultural, trans-denominational march for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,” Hatcher said. “Bring your banners, your steppers, your praisers, your musicians and get in line for the most exciting march of the year.”

The Rev. Ray Walker, an associate pastor at River's Edge, has put the word out for churches with “praise band-type” groups. “We will provide the flat beds and trucks,” Walker said. “No certain style is required... we expect youth bands, contemporary music and traditional.”

For more information, contact Walker at 770-719-0303.
