Tek Rail expanding, moving to Peachtree City industrial park

A company founded and based in Fayette County a decade ago is expected to find itself in new digs in Peachtree City by the end of the year.

Ground was broken last week on a new manufacturing and fabrication facility for Tek Rail, a Fayetteville firm that is the “largest manufacturer of quality vinyl railing in the United States,” according to Group VI Corporation, which is constructing the new facility.

Tek Rail uses PVC pipe to make patio and porch railings for multi-family housing, serving large companies such as Post Properties. About 1.2 million feet of railings have been made so far, Tek Rail president-CEO Steve Foster said. He and his wife are co-owners of Tek Rail.

The company began as Fencescaping of Georgia, making PVC fencing in an 800-sq. ft. space near the Courthouse Square in Fayetteville. During the past six years in Lee Center, the facility has grown from 3,200 to 40,000 square feet.

The new location in Peachtree City will bump that total up to 60,000 square feet, and Foster says he needs every inch of it. “We're just out of room,” he said. “We desperately need that space.”

He bases the space crunch on projections that last year's $8.6 million in total revenue could triple in the next 12 months.

While Tek Rail has offices in Dallas and Charlotte, all of the company's products are constructed here. About 80 people are employed by the company.

The new plant will be on Dividend Drive, across from the second entrance to Falcon Field, Foster said, adding that he likes working with Group VI and being able to stay in Fayette County while meeting his company's growing needs.
