Peachtree City has hired Paul Salvatore as the director of financial services and information technology, city manager Jim Basinger announced Thursday. A 17-year veteran in government finance, Salvatore is currently the financial officer for the Henry County Water Department. Salvatore graduated from Providence College in Rhode Island with a bachelor's degree in business management, and is a Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) through the Government Finance Officers Association. Serving with Henry County since 1997, he has also held the positions of assistant finance director for East Point, finance supervisor in Lighthouse Point, Florida, and assistant accounting supervisor in Hempstead, New York. We are extremely fortunate to have found someone with Paul's extensive background and education in government finance, said Basinger. Additionally, his knowledge of our current financial computer systems and his first-hand experience in implementing the state-mandated Uniform Chart of Accounts will be a tremendous asset to Peachtree City. As director of financial services and information technology, Salvatore will be responsible for planning and directing the finance, purchasing, city clerk and information technology functions for the city, including the preparation of the budget and accounting for all monies received by the city and ensuring the timely and appropriate investment of funds. We welcome Paul to Peachtree City - just as we are entering the FY2001 budgeting process, said Mayor Bob Lenox. I am confident he will be able to pick up the ball and run with it, and am looking forward to working with him. Salvatore will take up his new duties on May 25.
