A Fayetteville construction firm has been selected to build the new Peachtree City police station at a cost of $1.75 million. The City Council approved the low bid from Leslie Contracting, which came in about 9 percent below the city's budgeted cost of $1.9 million. The bid package calls for completion of the contract in 180 days. Six contractors submitted bids for the project, a 13,600-sq. ft. facility to be built on Ga. Highway 74 next to the Flat Creek wastewater treatment plan. It will replace the current police station below City Hall and allow other city departments to expand there. The bid amount includes $9,000 set aside for additional sewer work requested by Pathway Communities to serve sites south of the police station. The city will be reimbursed by Pathway for that amount before the work is done.
