Don't leave your pet in your car

With summer coming on, Fayette animal control director Bill Newman wants to remind local residents that leaving your pet in the car while you shop or run errands is a bad idea.

“The temperature inside the vehicle will get too high and will put the animal in danger,” said Newman.

If you see an animal left in a vehicle, Newman asks that you phone the county Animal Shelter, 770-487-6450, or call your local law enforcement agency. Anyone caught leaving an animal in these conditions will be charged with animal cruelty, Newman said.
