A
Sandy Creek High School remains in intensive care
after being seriously injured in a Thursday
afternoon auto accident.
The
wreck took place at about 4:20 p.m. on Sandy
Creek Road at Sams Drive, according to Maj. Wayne
Hannah of the Fayette County Sheriff's
Department.
Kimberly
Ann Alberts, 17, of Fayetteville, was driving a
1991 Honda Civic when she attempted to make a
left turn off Sams Drive onto Sandy Creek Road.
She pulled out in front of a 1998 Ford F-150
pickup going north on Sandy Creek Road, Hannah
said.
The
driver of the truck, 18-year-old John Frampton
Rutledge of Fayetteville, was not injured. The
majority of the impact involved the front of the
pickup and the driver's door of the car,
according to Hannah.
Alberts,
who was wearing her seatbelt, sustained severe
head injuries and was flown by Phoenix Aircare to
Atlanta Medical Center. She was still in the
intensive care unit as of Monday afternoon.
The
investigation is ongoing.
