NAACP to discuss complaints of unfair treatment in schools

Decotis will be guest speaker

Recent incidents in which black students have complained of unfair treatment will be among topics discussed as Dr. John DeCotis, superintendent of Fayette County schools, addresses the regular monthly meeting of the Fayette NAACP Saturday, May 13 at 4 p.m.

The Fayette NAACP monitors trends in the treatment of students to determine the veracity of the complaints, said Edward Johnson, president of the local chapter.

“The issue of diversity training for faculty and staff is also a major concern,” he said. “The leadership of the Fayette NAACP is consistently proactive in identifying and resolving racial problems before they escalate.”

He urged students and parents to attend.

The meeting is at the Gathering Place, 203 McIntosh Trail, Peachtree City, between Peachtree Parkway and Ga. Highway 74.
