Fayette's representative in the U.S. Congress, Mac Collins, will speak along with Rep. Bob Barr of Cobb County at the Theodore Roosevelt Day barbecue sponsored by the Greater Fayette Republican Women.

The event will be 1 - 5 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at The Barn, 200 Laurel Drive, Tyrone.

U.S. Sen. Paul Coverdell also will be a special guest.

Cost of the reception is $100 per person and will benefit the campaign to reelect Barr. Tickets to the barbecue will be $25 and will benefit local candidates.

All local candidates also are expected to attend.

Live entertainment will be provided by Kelly Fisher.

Bob Adams Homes is seeking rezoning for 48 homes on about 20 acres on Ga. Highway 54, next to the Burch Road office park.

The Fayetteville Planning Commission will discuss the request during its meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Voting on the request is set for Tuesday, May 23.

Public comment will be accepted at both meetings.

A new cancer clinic and conference center will open on Ga. Highway 54 just west of Fayetteville if the Fayette County Commission agrees with the Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission Thursday unanimously recommended approval of Dr. Gerald Goldklang's rezoning request to allow the clinic on four acres next to Fayette Community Hospital.

Goldklang is asking that the property be rezoned from its current subdivision category to O-I, office-institutional.
