Science teams seek funding

Local science olympiad teams that will travel to Washington state next month for national competition are raising funds for the trip.

The Corbi Company will donate $6 to Rising Starr Middle School's team for each pizza kit sold at its Fayetteville location, 105C Industrial Way, between May 4 and 11.

For information on how to pick up a pizza kit, phone the company at 770-460-7002.

The team also will stage a car wash Sunday, May 7 in the parking lot of Fayetteville's Wal-Mart, 1 - 5 p.m. The second car wash will be Saturday, May 13 in the parking lot of First Union Bank in Peachtree City noon to 4 p.m. Pizza kits also can be purchased at the May 13 car wash.

McIntosh High School's team also is seeking financial help to defray travel costs. According to the team's fund-raising committee, students have raised some funds but need about $8,000 to cover airfare, lodging and supplies for the national competition. Donations may be made by check payable to McIntosh Science Olympiad and sent to the school at 201 Walt Banks Road, Peachtree City 30269.

For information, phone coach Dr. Marge Rawlings at 770-631-3232.
