Brooks set Putnam Day this Sunday

The Town of Brooks has declared Sunday, April 30 as Allen and Lurline Putman Day.

A special luncheon will be at the Brooks United Methodist Church at noon on that day.

Allen Putman has served as mayor of Brooks from 1985 to 1989 and is credited with bringing street lights, zoning codes and a recreation department to the town as well as first responder capabilities.

Lurline taught at the Brooks Elementary School from 1950 to 1980 and they are both credited with starting the Brooks Town Library in 1987. Both are natives of Fayette County.

The proclamation was unanimously approved.
