Fayette
County senior planner Pete Frisina recently spoke
to the Brooks Town Council concerning the
county's proposed impact fees.
Each
municipality in the county must approve of the
plan before impact fees charged to
developers to defray the cost of new government
services can be applied to plans for a new
Fayette County Jail.
Brooks
Mayor Bobby Butler appointed an advisory
committee consisting of Mike Roberts, chairman,
Eddie Lanham, Huie Bray, Roger Mallard and Jimmy
Lindsey to study the issue. The committee will
attend workshops to consider the impact fee
methodology, the proposed time line and the
intergovernmental agreements.
In
other business, local bicycling enthusiast Ken
Bartholomew presented a check for $728 to Butler,
the town's share of a bike race conducted
recently in the town. He said that the race saw
364 riders enter from as far away as Canada.
He
requested permission to have a fun ride July 8,
which would be a family affair for non-competing
racers. There will be two categories, those
racing a total of 62 miles and those racing 10
miles.
The
council approved the request, suggesting that the
ride be conducted in conjunction with the town's
Music In The Park event, planned the same day.
Councilwoman
Jackie Carson was appointed to represent Brooks
on the Fayette County Public Library Board.
