As you probably know, you can get almost anything you want on the Internet. Books, movies, food, jobs, homes... the list goes on and on.

Now, there is a service that will help many people get health care products and services.

AmericanCareGiver.com, a program that began a limited run in Georgia in 1999, is now going nationwide. The web site is a fast and easy way to find qualified, pre-screened professionals who will come to your home, as well as a fast and easy way to order health care products, prescriptions and services.

Potential care givers can register on the web site to help offer a vast array of services to people, ranging from wound treatment to physical therapy. All care givers go through a screening process, where their credentials, references and accreditation are checked.

“The dramatic growth in the elderly population, coupled with the trend of reduced hospital stays and increased home recuperation, have generated a rapidly growing segment of consumers who are desperately seeking better ways to provide care at home” says Terrie Jones, CEO of AmericanCareGiver.com. “Now, for the first time in the history of health care, AmericanCareGiver.com offers a delivery system that meets this critical need.”

The web site is endorsed by the Georgia Baptist Health Care Foundation, which was instrumental in getting health care to rural areas of Georgia. The site offers links to support groups, service and volunteer organizations, health care facilities, prominent health care topics and conditions and a medical glossary.

There is no charge to get on the web site or to contact a care giver. If a care giver is hired, the price is worked out between the client and the care giver. Information and products can be browsed at anytime at no charge.
