Covenant Church building its future

Members of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, are looking forward to the next few weeks when they can move into the top floor of its new Christian Education building.

This new addition will give them 11 Sunday School rooms, offices and a music room.

The 350 members can look back to the late 1970s at the church's beginning in a store front and now they worship in a facility nestled in the woods, overlooking a lake.

A new children's coordinator has been added to head the children's ministries, Norma Padilla.

Among the activities this summer, the youth will be participating in a seven-day trip to Albany, where about 15 of them will conduct a day camp.

Various groups of adults will be headed to North Africa and Peru. One of these will be a medical mission and one will be a friendship evangelism ministry.

In past years the church's youth and adults have traveled to London, Croatia, India, Mexico, Pakiston, Romania, Russia and Jamaica in order to help people everywhere know Jesus Christ.

The church also assists in establishing new congregations, such as Redemption Fellowship in Fayetteville and Carriage Lane in Peachtree City.

The church is looking forward to the fall, when the elementary school of the Pace Christian School will again be housed on the church site.

The Rev. Dale B. Welden has served Covenant Presbyterian for 11 years.

At 819 Ga. Highway 314, Fayetteville, the church can be reached at 770-460-9450.
