Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran

Holy Week services at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City began on Maundy Thursday, April 20, with worship at 7 p.m. Designed to put believers in Jesus's footsteps as he made his way toward Calvary, this service included the celebration of the Last Supper.

On Good Friday, April 21, a Tenebrae service allows worshippers to have a sense of the darkness of the day of the crucifixion. The service begins at 8 p.m. Under the direction of choirmaster and organist David Beecher, the choir will present a new St. John Passion by John Ferguson, professor of music at St. Olaf Choir.

An Easter Vigil will begin on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and will include a sermon drama in which disciples Thomas, John, and Peter are led by Mary to the empty tomb. There will be special music and the traditional reading of six scripture lessons.

Pastors John Weber and Miriam Beecher said the public is warmly invited to participate in these services of preparation for Easter, and to join in the celebration of Christ's Resurrection on Easter morning. Worship, including Holy Communion, begins at 7, 8:30, 10 and 11:30 a.m. A nursery will be provided at the three later services.
