Johnson kicks off
reelection campaign Sheriff
Randall Johnson kicked off his campaign for
reelection Saturday night at Chip Young`s
Barn in Tyrone.
More than 250
stopped by to enjoy socializing and food. Elected
officials including U. S. Rep. Mac Collins, state
Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, Superior Court Judge
Johnnie Caldwell, District Attorney Bill McBroom,
Peachtree City Councilman Annie McMenamin and
judges Kenny Melear, Grady Huddleston and James
White were among the attendees.
A native of Fayette
County, Johnson has served as sheriff for six
four-year terms. He has been married to his wife,
Kaye, for 32 years and has two children, Melissa,
28, and Beth, 25. His children are the fifth
generation to live on the Johnson
property in Fayette County.
Randall loves
his job, said Kaye. It's always been
a family affair. We have seen a lot of changes,
but one thing remains the same, and that is our
good friends and supporters.
Johnson added,
It's been a good 24 years, real good. I've
enjoyed it greatly.
Johnson was honored
in 1997 for serving the longest term as sheriff
in the history of the county. Prior to running
for his first term in 1977, Johnson was a state
revenue agent for Fayette and the surrounding
counties.
