Take a coffee break in Senoia

This month, Foodie is proud to take you to two quite different places that are both “must-sees” for avid foodies.

Our first stop is the Senoia Coffee Company, on Main Street in the quaint east Coweta burg. The restaurant has been open only a few months, but it's already creating quite a buzz (and not just a caffeine one) among the locals.

Owners David and Susan Pengelly set out to create a coffee shop reminiscent of some in larger cities and they have hit the nail on the head.

Walk into the restaurant and marvel at the exposed brick in the 1927 building. The Pengellys have restored the building with a sense of history and it shows.

After looking at the surroundings, your nose is immediately assailed with the rich smell of “real” coffee. No grocery store coffee here — this is the real stuff.

Pengelly has his own coffee roaster and is able to create unique blends of the best beans in the world for the discriminating coffee connoisseur.

Kona, Costa Rican, Sumatran are just some of the types of beans he roasts on a frequent basis and different blends are offered as the coffee of the day.

Additionally, the store has the feel of an old-time candy shop with many chocolate temptations, luscious desserts and wonderful truffles in a glass display case.

The restaurant also serves lunch and is the perfect get-away to immerse yourself in a cup of coffee and let the rest of the world pass you by.

After sampling the coffee company, head over to Harris Teeter in Peachtree City. The new grocery store is a foodies paradise.

Freshly prepared foods offer a respite for time-challenged cooks. Additionally, the store has fabulous breads, a great bakery, outstanding seafood and high quality meats. Some of the store brands even have “foodie” tags, so you know you've come to the right place.

The store is a little piece of some of the major farmers' markets in Atlanta and should definitely be on your “must-see” list.
