Huddleston Elementary School is observing Exceptional Children's Week through Friday in partnership with the Peachtree City Commission on Children and Youth and Fayette County Department of Education.

According to Huddleston principal Lynda Lambeth, the week's focus is intended to “raise the level of awareness on who these exceptional children are, and what they can do...”

Huddleston was selected as this year's participating school and is offering all its students a full menu of activities geared toward elevating their understanding of the various mental and physical disabilities sustained by these exceptional children.

Games in physical education classes, visiting readers and writing contests are just of the few classroom-based components of the week-long program.

“On Friday at 8:15 a.m., will have a wheelchair race,” Lambeth said. Also, Huddleston staff and faculty members will play the Challengers baseball team in a game starting at 6 p.m. at the South Complex fields on Ga. Highway 74.

The Challengers is composed of exceptional children from Peachtree City.
