Kindergarten registration is approaching

Kindergarten registration will be Saturday, April 29, from 8 a.m. to noon at each elementary school.

Parents must register their 5-year-olds at the schools in their attendance zones. The children must be present for the registration.

Kindergartners must be 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2000, having a date of birth between Sept. 2, 1995, and Sept. 1, 1996.

At the time of registration, parents will need to bring the following: the child's Social Security card; birth certificate; hearing, vision, and dental certificate; and an immunization certificate.

The hearing, vision, and dental and the immunization certificates can be obtained at the Coweta County Health Department or from the child's pediatrician.

A birth certificate is required before the child can enter the first day of school.

“It is extremely important that parents register their children for kindergarten so that adequate preparations can be made prior to the opening of school,” said a school system spokesman.

The first day for kindergarten is from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 10. Kindergarten students have access to the regular bus lines, breakfast, lunch and the After School Program. For information phone the Office of Curriculum and Instruction at 770-254-2826.

For information regarding school district lines, phone the Office of Director of Operations at 770-254-2736.
