Service academies
set seminar in Fayetteville Students,
parents and school officials interested in the U.
S. service academies are invited to a seminar
April 13 at the Fayette County Public Library.
Representatives
from the five service academies will provide
information to students, teachers and parents
from 7 - 9 p.m. The academies are the U.S. Air
Force Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, the
U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the U.S. Military
Academy at West Point and the U.S. Naval Academy
at Annapolis.
First
Lt. Ronald Thomas will speak about his
experiences in applying for a nomination to West
Point, on life as a cadet and on his current
career.
Academies
provide federally funded educations and
commissioners upon completion. Graduates must
serve in the respective service for a designated
number of years.
Each
service academy offers a student a valuable
opportunity for a great education and opens the
doors to a fulfilling career, said U.S.
Rep. Mac Collins, who is sponsoring the event.
For
information, phone Lisa Parrish in Collins'
Columbus office, 706-327-7228.
