Enjoy the true beauty of the season this weekend on Spring Garden Tour 2000, hosted by Peachtree City Elementary School.

Eight Peachtree City residential gardens and landscaped grounds are featured on the itinerary. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 16, 1 - 4 p.m. A $10 donation is requested and proceeds benefit Peachtree City Elementary's butterfly garden and playground.

Three homes on the tour are on St. Andrews Square; the home of E.B. and Barbara Evans, the home of Russ and Linda Gariota and the home of Harris and Sandra Pruitt. These three properties provide one uninterrupted stroll through blooming azaleas and flowering trees.

Heading south to Robinson Road is the home of John and Jill Bowman. Mat and Marie Egan will open their garden to visitors at Southern Shore and Interlochen residents Ron and Susan Primrose are also participating. Honeysuckle Ridge homeowners Bill and Lynn Grant and North Cove dwellers Roger Loos and Susan Sherman round out the city's garden spots.

Organizer and tour participant Barbara Evans reminded tour goers to bring their cameras to capture some of the original ideas and breathtaking foliage on display. “Four of the gardens have koi ponds and there are numerous arbors, swings and very special spots,” Evans said.

The Fayette County Society of Fine Arts is sponsoring an assorted collection of artwork to be on display in the gardens, and harp and violin music will be provided Sunday by the Ensemble pour deux in the Evans' garden.

Additional stops on the tour include the butterfly garden at the Peachtree City Elementary School and the sponsors, Yardtime Inc. and Rareplants.

Tickets are available at the school, Beard and Company or at any of the homes on tour. Phone 770-631-3250 for information.
