As a young man, D. L. Moody was called upon suddenly to preach a funeral sermon. He hunted all through the four Gospels trying to find one of Christ's funeral sermons, but searched in vain. He found that Christ broke up every funeral He ever attended. Death did not count, did not exist where He was. When the dead heard His voice they sprang to life. Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life. (John 11:25) This Easter Sunday, we are holding our Easter sunrise service at a seemingly unusual, eerie place. It is the place very much like the first Easter. The first Easter all started in a cemetery when the women who loved Jesus went to the borrowed tomb where he had laid for three days only to find that He had risen just as he said he would. Again death, (one of man's oldest enemies) could not hold Him. Because He lives, we the believers and followers of Jesus will live also after death. Just imagine what that first Easter in heaven will be like! This Easter our Easter sunrise service will be Easter Sunday, April 23 at 8 a.m. at the Holly Hills Cemetery on Ga. Highway 29 at in Fairburn, Ga. A light continental breakfast will follow. I was watching the news today and saw all the political wrangling over the young Cuban boy whose mother died by drowning while they were trying to escape Castro's communist government. In Castro's Godless government, they control people through the threats of harm to family members if they do not sing his party line I thought of the exact opposite of the way God's plan works for believers. Unlike Castro, God puts our families all back together again, not through control, but out of love for us to all be with Him and with each other for eternity in Heaven. Praise the Lord for God's resurrection and the life through His son Jesus. The Rev. Dr. Knox Herndon is the pastor of His House Community Church (SBC) and a substitute school teacher in the Fayette County school system, and a former Army chaplain. The church is currently meeting in the American Legion Log Cabin across from the fountain on the Square in Fayetteville. Prayer line 770-719-2365 e-mail Khern2365@aol.com.
