In its 13 years, The Catholic Church of Saint Gabriel's has grown from meeting in the American Legion post building in Fayetteville to having its own facility on Antioch Road just south of Ga. Highway 92 south.

The 647 member families are looking forward to the church's next building phase, hoping to add meeting space and classrooms.

They are about to participate in the most important event of their year, Holy Week. Celebrating Triduum, or three days of special services in preparation for Resurrection Sunday, will begin Maundy Thursday, April 20, and continue Good Friday with a special Easter mass Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

With two new Catholic schools coming to Fayette County, St. Gabriel's is looking forward to being an important part of the schools' curriculum.

The youth are looking forward to the Steubenville-Atlanta Conference the end of July. The theme will be “Taste Heaven” and will involve several thousand youth from around the Southeast.

Adults are anticipating the seminars, “Life In Spirit,” which will begin April 26. The eight weeks are designated to be a deeper personal commitment to Christ and receive the openness necessary to receive the Holy Spirit. A mass will precede each class at 7 p.m. and the seminar will begin at 7:30 p.m. Those in the community who are not of the Catholic faith also are welcome and encouraged to come.

The Rev. Timothy M. Hepburn is a native Georgian, and originally planned to be an architect until he felt the conversion into priesthood. He has been with Saint Gabriel's for 18 months and is active in the county ministerial activities.

The church is at 135 Antioch Road, Fayetteville and can be reached at 770-461-0492. ~flÍ
