City sponsors art contest

In recognition of City Government Week, April 23-29, Peachtree City is sponsoring an art contest for city students in grades K-5.

Winners for each grade category will be announced at a City Hall open house Saturday, April 29.

The contest theme, “My City Government,” asks each child to create a picture of a service provided by the city. Children may choose from several services, including Elected Officials, the Police Department, Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Streets and Cart Paths, Library and Recreation.

Entries will be judged on creativity, originality and the child's understanding of a service provided by the city.

The contest is limited to Peachtree City residents enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade during the 1999-2000 school year. Entry forms are available at City Hall, the Peachtree City Library, the Recreation Administration Building, the Gathering Place and Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center.

First, second and third place ribbons will be awarded in each of the six grade categories at the City Hall open house.
