The Fayette County Development Authority has hired Chris Clark as its executive director, Chairman Randy Hayes announced. The authority has been without a director for a year. Former director John Boothby resigned to take the helm of a new economic development post in Forest Park, Ga. Clark, who has a 30-year background in marketing and political consulting, comes to Fayette after three years as president/CEO of the Hawkinsville-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce and United Pulaski Economic Development Association. He is currently the chairman of the 1,100-member Technology Committee of the Kennesaw College and State University Small Business Innovation Research Advisory Council, and is a member of the Middle Georgia Regional Development Authority and holds positions on both boards. A native of Fitzgerald, Ga., Clark has a bachelor of science degree from Georgia Southern University and a master's of public administration with an emphasis in economic development from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. Recently, he was chosen the 2000 Outstanding Recent Alumni by Georgia College and serves on the Alumni Board of Directors for Georgia Southern. In his tenure in Pulaski County, Clark grew the local work force by 700 jobs and lowered unemployment by 2 percent, according to Hayes. He was instrumental in construction of the county's Technology Park and Riverfront Park and was the principal for Hawkinsville's Better Hometown designation. Clark will begin his duties in Fayette County in May.
