Senoia's spring fling is just around the corner

One of the great rites of spring is set for later this month when the Senoia Area Historical Society hosts its annual Progressive Dinner.

The dinner is set for April 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. and tickets run $35 for the five-course meal. The dinner features courses at five different homes in Senoia's historic district.

Appetizers for this year's meal are served at a church built in 1894, currently owned by John and Priscilla Meiller.

The Meillers are currently restoring the church to its original roots and plan to use it as a theater, wedding chapel or church.

The traveling meal next moves to the 1850 home of Jack and Julie Humphrey for soup. This home had several rooms added around 1920 and the home was featured in the TV movie “Christmas Memories.”

The next course is salad at the Greek revival home of Perry Benson and Charles Hunnicutt.

“I saw this home for the first time about nine months ago. I knew it was going to be home,” said Benson.

The home is furnished with an eclectic collection of European and period American furniture.

As has become the tradition, this year's main course is at the neo-classical home of Tom McKeehan. McKeehan was an antiques dealer for years and his home is furnished with his collection of Far East antiques and art, along with an unusual mix of 20th century treasures.

The final course is dessert at the home of Doug and Cindy Watson. The home was built in 1861 and the owners have preserved many of the details, including the wrap-around front porch.

Tickets can be purchased at www.southernfancyantiques.com or by calling 770-599-9854. Buy your tickets early, because the event usually sells out quickly.
