Tyrone
residents will get a first-hand presentation on
the need for a county jail this week.
County
Commissioner Greg Dunn will address the Tyrone
Town Council Thursday night about the need for
municipalities to join the effort in building a
new county jail.
Dunn
is expected to ask the council to approve adding
an additional impact fee to development in the
town to help pay for the jail.
Other
items on Thursday's agenda include:
” More discussion of having a
canine unit with the police force. Last month,
the town tabled a decision on paying for a drug
dog. Chief Roger Spencer is expected to ask for
approval of funds for the dog and provide the
town exact guidelines for how the dog would be
used.
” An initial talk about the
impact of Peachtree City's proposed West Village
on the town. The 1,100-acre proposed village
borders Tyrone and town officials want to study
how the property will be developed.
The
meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at Tyrone Town Hall.
