As home buyers begin to flock to the Avery Park Information Center, the community's commercial Village Square is also beginning to attract the attention of the business community. Pathway Communities, the developer of Avery Park, recently announced that Caicos Properties LLC has purchased the first commercial property in the Village Square. Caicos Properties has secured as its prime tenant, Susan M. Goodson D.M.D., a general dentist. Goodson will be leasing the entire second floor of the building for her dental practice. Caicos Properties will lease the additional 2,487 square feet for commercial and retail space. Goodson will relocate her general dentistry practice from Franklin in Heard County, where she has been practicing for 19 years. A Newnan resident for six years, Goodson was attracted to Avery Park because of its ties to historic Newnan and its enviable location fronting U.S. Highway 29, just north of the Newnan Bypass, she said. From its distinctive architecture to its unique Village Square entry, Avery Park brings back the cherished look and feel of turn-of-the-century Newnan, said Goodson. Mitch Ginn, president of L. Mitch Ginn and Associates in Newnan, partnered with Hamilton Engineering and Design Company to design the 6,160-sq. ft. building in which Goodson's office will be situated. Ginn designed the office space according to Avery Park's historical architecture guidelines, which are representative of the architecture lining Newnan's Courthouse Square. Goodson expects to occupy this location in December 2000. Pat Heaberg, Pathway Communities vice president of commercial and industrial development, said Goodson is a perfect fit for both Avery Park and Newnan. Dr. Goodson has a reputation for being involved in and committed to community-related initiatives, says Heaberg. In return, the residents of Coweta County and the surrounding area will benefit from a well-established dentistry practice. Heaberg says Goodson is the first of many tenants expected for the Village Square. From banks and business offices to restaurants and convenience-oriented retailers, Avery Park's Village Square will offer these types of businesses a unique historical setting in a prime Newnan location, he said. Avery Park is a 500-home, Village Square community reminiscent of Newnan's neighborhoods of the early 1900s. With more than 40 percent green belts and open areas, the community will feature a commercial entry reminiscent of turn-of-the-century Newnan, walking trails and paths, a competition size swimming pool, tennis courts and community parks. In addition, the development will have a combination of ultra-fast Internet connection potential, upgraded wiring in every home and an interactive community intranet. Homes are priced from the mid $100's to $300's.
