Youngsters get motorcycle safety tips

Fayetteville chapter P of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association recently gave lessons on motorcycle safety to After School Program students at three elementary schools.

Excited students at Peachtree City Elementary, Oak Grove Elementary and Huddleston Elementary got to sit on the Gold Wing Hondas, (average cost is $16,000), put on a helmet, blow the horn and pretend to go off into the sunset.

The After School Program is available through the Fayette County Board of Education at all 14 elementary schools for a weekly fee. Students must be picked up by 6 p.m.

Time is set aside for homework, cooking, crafts and playtime. An additional fee to the above will give the students lessons in karate, gym, piano, dance or golf. These lessons are given by the appropriate vendors.

Chapter P has a membership of about 80 persons and meets each third Saturday at IHOP with eating at 6 p.m. and a meeting at 7 p.m.
