Commission denies
sewer request at county line By DAVE HAMRICK

No
sewer, no way, was the message Fayette
County commissioners gave Larry Woolard when he
asked to have his county-line property sewered by
Clayton County.
But
commissioners hinted that if Woolard goes through
proper channels, they might consider allowing
Clayton to provide water to the property.
I
have no problem with water, said
Commissioner Glen Gosa, chairman of the county
Water Committee. But, he would have to run
it back through the Water Committee, said
county manager Billy Beckett.
Woolard
said he wants to develop his commercial property
at Ga. Highway 138 and Ga. Highway 314, and
Fayette provides neither water nor sewer in that
area.
It
has been a long-standing policy not to allow
sewer service from another county to be extended
over into Fayette, said commission Chairman
Harold Bost. Commissioners fear that additional
customers will want to hook on, adding to the
density of development in general. The one
exception has been Our Lady of Mercy Catholic
School.
