Ticket sales for the 2000 concert series at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater have been outstanding, according to a report given Monday night to the Development Authority of Peachtree City. The response has been unbelievable, said amphitheater director Kristi Rapson. We processed about 200 orders in two hours. The renewal rate for season tickets is more than 90 percent so far, Rapson said, and 1999 season ticket sales were surpassed by nearly 300 on the first day. The venue has sold 82 percent of its total tickets for the first 10 shows, including more than 1,000 season tickets, Rapson reported. Season tickets went on sale Monday, and will continue until Kansas takes to the stage for the first weekend of the season, April 21-22. Individual tickets go on sale April 11, according to availability. Other performers scheduled for the first series of 2000 include Don McLean (May 5-6), the 5th Dimension (May 19-20), the Righteous Brothers (June 2-3), and Helen Reddy (June 16-17). All five acts will perform Friday and Saturday night. Renovations are scheduled to be completed at the amphitheater by April 10. We have had terrific weather and with hard work the construction schedule should be met easily, Rapson said. The original plans were updated to include several required fire and security regulations, and the builders unexpectedly found the old burned amphitheater when they working on the foundation, she added. The city has built a new bridge across the amphitheater pathway. A welcome reception for sponsors is set for Saturday, April 22, prior to the Kansas concert. Only one sponsor opening remains, at the Gold level for $7,500. The second summer concert series will be announced in mid-May. The series will begin July 21-22 and continue through Sept. 22-23.
