The
city of Fayetteville's computer system has grown
so large and complex that a full time person is
needed to maintain it, says acting city manager
Johnny Roberts.
City
Council Monday unanimously approved Roberts'
recommendation that a full time systems
administrator be hired, taking those duties off
the backs of finance director Lynn Raven and
police Maj. Steve Ledbetter, freeing them for
their other duties.
Cost
of the additional person for the remainder of the
city's 2000 budget will be $19,048, Roberts said,
adding that the full salary and benefits will
have to be factored into next year's budget.
In
other action during its regular semi-monthly
meeting Monday, council unanimously:
” Approved a $4,936 a year
maintenance agreement for air conditioning in
City Hall, the fire/police headquarters building,
the fire station at Fayette Pavilion the The
Depot. Dell Air Conditioning from Hapeville was
low bidder for the project.
” Approved Roberts'
recommendation to change the rank of captain in
the Police Department to that of major, mirroring
the practice in most area police departments.
” Approved Roberts' request to
promote a worker in the Water Department to
senior crew leader. The person involved is
already doing the work, and the pay and title
should reflect that, he said.
