Authorities have identified one suspect in last week's armed robbery of a Fayetteville family and are looking for him as well as his four accomplices.

A warrant has been issued based on a fingerprint and videotape evidence, according to Maj. Bruce Jordan of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.

Fayetteville police reports state that two armed men approached Thaddius White Wednesday evening as he got out of his car in the driveway of his home at 140 Glenwood Lane. After demanding money from him, they forced White, his 8-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter inside the house.

The suspects struck White several times before tying him up and forcing the children to lie facedown on the kitchen floor, police said. They then fled the home with an undetermined amount of money.

Police are looking for:

A black male, 5'11” to six feet tall, medium build, about 185 pounds, bald with a gold tooth, wearing a white t-shirt and armed with a semiautomatic handgun.

A black male, 5'11” to six feet tall, medium build, armed with an unknown handgun.

A black male, short in height, wearing a FUBU shirt, a red and blue cap with blue jeans and short hair.

Two black males wearing dark clothing and short hair.

The Sheriff's Department got involved in the case Thursday at the victim's request, Jordan said, and is working jointly with the Fayetteville Police Department.

A wrapper that had contained duct tape used by the suspects was found at the scene and traced to the manufacturer, then to the Split Second convenience store on Old National Highway where it was purchased, Jordan said. The victim owns a business in the shopping center next to that store.

A videotape obtained at the store shows a suspect making the purchase. A fingerprint taken from the duct tape wrapper also was obtained and has been identified, Jordan said.

The search has been picked up by the Metro Fugitive Squad. The suspect's name is not being released while authorities look for him, Jordan said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective James Miller at 770-461-4441. All information will be kept confidential.

The Fayetteville Police Department will have a neighborhood watch meeting for residents of the Lakemont subdivision Wednesday, March 15, at 7 p.m. in the clubhouse.
