Fayette luminaries `arrested' for cause

The Fayette County American Heart Association's Cardiac Arrest drew a number of local citizens, who were “found guilty” of various “offenses” and “fined” as much as $300 each.

Serving as the “judge” was County Commissioner Greg Dunn, who found that banging a gavel and collecting money was a lot of fun. Approximately $4,000 was collected by the end of the court session. “We had a great time at the kickoff and were very pleased with the initial response,” said AHA President Janet McGregor.

The event was conducted in a meeting room at the Fayette Community Hospital. Both those “arrested” and diners in the hospital cafeteria were entertained by the Covenant Four Quartet, consisting of Ken Pariso, Glen Allen, Bill Nordmark and Harold Smith.

To continue the project a little further, the Heart Association has provided the community with its “Most Wanted” list, which consists of County Commission Chairman Harold Bost, Fayetteville Mayor Kenneth Steele and Peachtree City Mayor Bob Lenox.

McGregor said those wishing to do so can make a donation to the Heart Association in the name of one of these men. The one receiving the most contributions will be located and “arrested” at one of their respective government meetings.

Donations can be sent to American Heart Association, 70 Perimeter Center East, Suite 7010, Atlanta, Ga. 30346.

The local committee consists of Shirley Frady, Paul Oddo, Ryan Duffey, Marie Schlosser, Eve Gray, Deborah Bonner and Janet McGregor.
