Another name to consider on Super Tuesday

While the national media would have you think otherwise, there is actually a third Republican candidate running for President. That bit of news may come as a surprise to many Americans, but what raises eyebrows even more is that this third Republican candidate is black, Roman Catholic, and very conservative. Who is he?

His name is Alan Keyes and he is a 49-year-old former United Nations Ambassador and Reagan State Department official who has a Harvard PhD in government. Keyes, who ran for President in 1996 and back then went all the way to the Republican National Convention, is continuing to run his 2000 presidential bid as a viable grassroots campaign.

Keyes unabashedly talks about his faith in God and decries the moral degeneration of America. He is considered by many - even begrudgingly by some in the media - as the most articulate and intelligent of all the candidates and the consensus opinion is that he has won practically every debate. Keyes' conservative platform includes, among other things, ending all abortions and replacing the income tax with a national sales tax.

Keyes' message resonates with a lot of voters, who agree with him on the need to restore moral integrity to America, according to Cele Eifert, Fayette County Coordinator for Keyes' 2000 presidential campaign. Eifert is frustrated and baffled by the media's lack of coverage of Keyes.

“I think that the national media, which is largely comprised of Democrats and liberals, is truly afraid of Alan Keyes,” said Eifert. “The last thing they would ever want to do is help him gain national exposure.”

Eifert encourages all voters to check out the Keyes web site at www.keyes2000.org or contact her at 770-632-6417 for more information.
