Bank welcomes first customers

The Bank of Georgia is now open for business on the east side of Peachtree City.

Pam and Reid Hutchings of Peachtree City were the first customers to open accounts at the bank's new location at 2008 Ga. Highway 54 West. “We are so excited about the new bank,” said Pam.

A trio of longtime Fayette County bankers — president/CEO Pat Shepherd and executive vice presidents Mickey Godwin and Rick Duncan — are leading The Bank of Georgia.

“We've known these bankers for years and have done business with them before,” said Ms. Hutchings. “We know the kind of people they are and wanted to be the first to come to The Bank of Georgia.”

Pam and Reid Hutchings moved to the Peachtree City area in 1979 to open Miles Ace Hardware with their partner, Charles Miles.

“We see many similarities between our business philosophy and that of The Bank of Georgia,” said Reid. “We both believe in personal attention to the customer. We know if we take care of our customers they will take care of us. We know customers have the option of going to big chain establishments but believe there is still a large segment of our community that would prefer to do business with local people.”

Miles Ace Hardware has two locations, one of which is next door to the bank.

“The Bank of Georgia is a locally owned and managed bank dedicated to bringing community banking back to Fayette County,” according to a press release issued by the bank last week. “All decisions are made locally by experienced bankers that know the marketplace and live in the community in which they serve.”

“We are glad to be open and welcome our friends and neighbors to our bank,” said Shepherd. “We are a bank that really cares about our customers. All of our employees have an enthusiasm that just can't be matched.”
