Fayetteville
building official Tony Haponski was honored by
the City Council recently for being named a Code
Enforcement and Administration Professional by
the Southern Building Code Congress
International.
Haponski
is one of only four state-wide to receive the
CEAP designation. He also is one of only 15 in
Georgia to receive the Council of American
Building Officials designation as a Certified
Building Official.
After
receiving a plaque of appreciation from the City
Council, Haponski said the city's aggressive
policy toward helping workers receive additional
education is partly responsible. I really
appreciate the city's education program, he
said. That's what allowed me to pursue
this.
Formerly
a building contractor, Haponski has worked for
the city for four years, first as a building
inspector and later promoted to building
official.
As
building official, he is responsible for
enforcing the city's building code and managing
the inspection of new construction to be sure it
meets the city's standards.
