A red light proved
costly for two young men from Fayetteville last
week.
According to police
reports, a 1993 Nissan pickup truck was stopped
just after midnight Feb. 16 on South Jeff Davis
Drive at Jimmie Mayfield Boulevard.
The driver,
18-year-old Matthew Gordon Steiner, not only was
charged with running a red light, but also with
driving under the influence of alcohol and
underage alcohol possession.
Michael Earnest
Burdette, 20, a passenger in the truck, also was
charged with underage alcohol possession.
In an unrelated
incident, a routine traffic stop in Fayetteville
last week led to the recovery of a stolen car.
Kevin Kwasi
Blackmore, 22, of Fayetteville was charged with
defective equipment, driving with a suspended
license and theft by receiving a motor vehicle,
according to reports.
He was stopped Feb.
14 on Ga. Highway 54 at LaFayette Avenue in a
1998 Nissan Altima. A computer check reported
that the car was stolen, and Blackmore was taken
to the Fayette County Jail.
Also last week, a
weapons check at Fayette County High School led
to an arrest, reports indicated.
A black knife with
a three-inch blade was found in the vehicle of
Matthew Ryan Hicks, 18, of Fayetteville. He was
charged with carrying a weapon on school grounds.
