Fayette leaders to
be arrested in Heart Association's cause Fayette
Community Hospital will host the American Heart
Association's Cardiac Arrest fund-raiser
tomorrow, Feb. 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Fayette
Community Hospital
Judge
Greg Dunn (county commissioner and AHA board
member) will preside over the annual event.
Letters
summoning Fayette countians to the event were
recently mailed. Those receiving the summons were
invited to be arrested and were
assessed a fine.
While
we mailed many letters, we realize we probably
did not send to everyone who might wish to donate
to the American Heart Association, said
Janet McGregor, president of the Fayette County
AHA.
We
would like to invite anyone who would like to
make a donation to stop by to enjoy a light lunch
and the fun events we have planned.
Those
stopping by during the lunch-hour fund-raiser to
make a donation will receive a t-shirt, have
their picture taken behind bars, in
jail, and will be sentenced by
Judge Dunn to perform a humorous
task.
A
complimentary light lunch will be served to
arrestees. Well-known quartet The Covenant Four
will serenade volunteers and arrestees during the
arrest.
As
another component of the Cardiac Arrest, County
Commission Chairman Harold Bost, Fayetteville
Mayor Kenneth Steele or Peachtree City Mayor Bob
Lenox will be arrested by local law
enforcement personnel at an upcoming public
meeting. Those making a donation to the American
Heart Association will be able to credit their
donation to arrest one of the officials.
The
official whose name draws the highest dollar
amount will become Fayette County's Most
Wanted and will be tracked down and
publically arrested.
Locations
including Braelinn Kroger, GTO's Fabulous Fifties
Drive-In, China Cafe and others throughout the
county will have posters and containers for
contributions to have Bost, Steele or Lenox
arrested. The Most Wanted Arrest will
occur sometime after the initial Cardiac Arrest
kickoff Feb. 24.
Fro
information phone Janet McGregor, 770-631-9503.
Committee
members organizing the event are Shirley Frady,
Paul Oddo, Ryan Duffey, Marie Schlosser, Eve
