Secrets of Fayette

One of the great joys of being “Foodie” is discovering that undiscovered gem of an eating establishment that nobody has heard of or has dreamed about trying.

But after the discovery, you're sharply divided. Should I keep this information to myself or share the wealth?

Fear not, fellow Fayette foodies, I'll share the info. This month's dining secret is... Fayette Community Hospital.

Yes, I said the hospital. I was as skeptical as you are, but several reports kept telling me how good the food was, so I decided to give it a try.

My first impression was the surroundings. This is not the hospital cafeteria I remember. As you walk through a nicely appointed hospital on the way to the dining area, you pass a nice little outdoor mini-park, complete with a babbling brook.

The area is an ideal place to take your delectables on a nice sunny day.

When you enter the dining area, the room features a lot of wood and nice upholstery. It looks far more like a restaurant than cafeterias that I've been to.

Wander into the food service area and a wide variety of choices await. Just feeling like a salad? The hospital offers a salad bar and already prepared salads.

If you're feeling like a heartier meal, the daily luncheon specials change. From pork chops to chopped steak and mashed potatoes, the menu offers a little something for everyone.

The quality of the food is excellent and it's also quite a bargain at lunchtime. For my money, the hospital offers an excellent value for your food dollars in Fayette.

If you've got a secret place you want to share, send your choice to business@TheCitizenNews.com.
