'Pastor Sue' to lead Peachtree City Lutherans in Consecration Sunday

The Rev. Susan Gamelin, pastor for leadership in the Southeastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will be guest preacher at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church when the Peachtree City congregation celebrates its fourth annual Consecration Sunday.

Fondly called “Pastor Sue” by those who know her, Gamelin will guide the congregation in an understanding of stewardship and the need of the giver to give. The worship service will include Holy Communion and worshipers will have an opportunity to express their commitment of time, talents and resources to the work of the Kingdom of God.

A brunch and a luncheon will follow services at 8:30 and 11 a.m., respectively, Feb. 27, by reservation. “We are looking forward to having Pastor Sue with us,” said the Rev. John Weber, mission developer and pastor of the Lutheran congregation from its beginnings. “She's a dynamic speaker and we will be blessed by her presence.”

Gamelin said she too is excited about coming. “I treasure times where I am invited to share in a congregation's journey,” she said. “It will be wonderful to be with Christ our Shepherd in its 25th year — so much to thank God for.”

Gamelin received her B.A. at Duke University and her master's of divinity at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. She was ordained in 1980 and has served two Florida parishes as pastor as well as serving in the Florida-Bahamas Synod office.

Since 1995, Gamelin has been responsible for leadership development and support within the four states in the Southeastern Synod: Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Her work has appeared in numerous church publications and she has taken an active role in church assignments worldwide. Her husband, Timothy Gamelin, is pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation in Marietta. The couple has four children and two grandchildren.
