A new restaurant is in the planning stages for Fayetteville.

City Council Monday will consider a beer and wine license request from Walter M. Alewine for Brothers Place.

The restaurant will occupy the space formerly held by Wings `n Things at 652 N. Jeff Davis Drive.

, The Fayette County Board of Education and city of Fayetteville will combine this year's annual auction of surplus equipment Saturday, Feb. 12 in the Fayette County High School upper stadium parking lot.

Fayetteville probably will contribute five vehicles to the auction. City Council plans to declare the items surplus during its meeting Monday night.

Included are a 1973 Mercedes B Van, two 1992 Ford Tauruses, a 1991 Ford Crown Victoria and a 1989 Chevrolet Caprice.

, Here's a reminder from the Fayette County Board of Elections. If you are not currently registered to vote in Fayette County, tomorrow is the last day to register and be eligible to vote in the March 7 Presidential Preference Primary.

There is no length of residency requirement. You need only be a resident of the county to register.

A Fayette/Spalding branch of the Libertarian Party is forming. Organization meeting is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Shoney's in Griffin, 1445 North Expressway (U.S. Highway 41-19).

Central to the party's platform are the concepts of individual freedom and keeping the government “out of the bedroom and out of the board room.”
