Four local building firms have been honored by the City Council in Peachtree City for their stellar work during 1999.

The Building Department announced that Mike Harrell and Bob Dixon were named Builder of the Year for their efforts in the Blueberry Hill neighborhood.

Todd Warwick of Centex Homes was chosen as Superintendent of the Year “for his attention to detail and his close working relationship with field inspectors and office personnel within the Building Department,” according to a written statement by the city.

David Millican and MEJA Construction Company's work at the NAPA Auto Parts location led to a selection for Best Commercial Site. This was “due to the continuous `hands-on' control from the start of construction to the certificate of occupancy,” the city said.

For his work in trenching for the installation of underground sewer and water lines while maintaining a safe work site, David Jenkins was given the Job Safety Award.

Crown Development received special recognition for its work in the Cardiff Park subdivision. “The walking paths, tree save areas and general improvements to the site deserved special recognition,” according to city staff.

“We think that outstanding achievement should receive recognition, and these building professionals have actively worked to excel in construction quality and job safety,” said city building official Tom Carty. “Each of these builders has been excellent to work with over the past year.”

These award winners were chosen by the members of Peachtree City's Developmental Services Division who deal with the builders at the various stages of development and construction.
