Walt Banks lane closed Sat. morning

Repairs to a water line are forcing a temporary change in traffic patterns this weekend in Peachtree City.

The city announced Wednesday that access to Walt Banks Road from Ga. Highway 54 will be limited because of work under the roadway by the Fayette County Water System.

The westbound lane of Walt Banks Road will be closed in the immediate vicinity of Hwy. 54 from about 8 a.m. Saturday throughout the day, the city said.

Since the work has been scheduled for the weekend, traffic will not be impacted as much as it could have been, as Peachtree City Police Chief James Murray noted.

“We appreciate the Water System's willingness to schedule this project on a Saturday,” said Murray. “It will cause minimal disruption to traffic for McIntosh High School and Holy Trinity Catholic Church.”

Motorists attempting to reach the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning at McIntosh, as well as Holy Trinity or the Southern Trace subdivision, are urged to use the Peachtree Parkway North entrance to Walt Banks Road.
