MediaOne
cable television crews are ready to get started
on upgrading the company's facilities in Fayette
County, said spokesman Reg Griffin this week.
They're
starting the first week of February and will have
the upgrade up by October, Griffin said.
Company
officials will update the Fayette County
Commission on plans to bring state-of-the-art
service to the county during the commission's
work session today at 3:30 p.m. at the County
Administrative Complex.
Fayette
Community Hospital's request that the county set
up a hospital authority and appoint its initial
board also is on the agenda. The request was on
the commission's Jan. 27 agenda as well, but due
to a mix-up in communication, hospital officials
weren't present.
Hospital
administrator Darrell Cutts said formation of an
authority will allow the hospital to get
low-interest bonds for planned expansion
projects, but will not affect the hospital's
policies or day to day operation.
Also
on the agenda will be Mallett and Associates'
request that the county appoint a representative
to work with the consulting firm on oversight of
the county's jail/courthouse construction
project. The representative should have authority
to transmit instructions, receive information,
interpret and define county policies and
decisions with respect to the company's services
on the project.
Director
of library services Chris Snell also will present
awards to outstanding staff for 1999.
